"Painting"

I am not very good at titles. I don't like to give my pictures names that give too much away or try to influence the way the viewer will look at the painting. My father often complained that my titles were far too prosaic. This was originally called "Incident in Portugal" which I always thought was far too informative and too highly charged with potential meaning. The present title "Painting" came to me about two years after finishing the picture. I think it is my best ever title but I don't think dad would approve.
