It's not unusual for friends to ask, "Why did you paint that?" and not always in a friendly way. My excuse here is that I thought this looked like a scene from one of those European arty (but not neccessarily art) films of the 1950s/60s. Hot, dusty and full of long, mysterious silences. Maybe Brigitte Bardot or Claudia Cardinale will be in the next scene.
