"Pinks"

A still life of pinks in a blue vase. A well meaning visitor at an exhibition where this was on view said to me, "You must have been disappointed when it came back from the framer." I was not sure what he meant until he pointed out that some of the picture went "behind the mount". I did not have the heart to explain that it was painted that way and, to this day, I have no idea whether he was joking or not.
